I’m sure if you are reading this you either already own a trail camera or you will be shortly.  Regardless, I just finished updating all the owners manuals for the different cameras.  You can view them by going to Trail Camera Owners Manuals.  Let me know if I missed any.

How quick are the Cuddeback Cameras?

February 8th, 2010

Big thanks to Darren and Sue Thomas for this awesome trail cam picture!  For a camera to snap a picture of a hawk in mid-flight it must have a fast trigger speed.  How fast is the Cuddeback’s trigger speed?  For the answer, check out the 2009 Trigger Speed Showdown.

Great website you MUST check out

January 28th, 2010

growingdeerlogo

I know many of you are land owners that are always interested in growing a bigger and better deer herd.  Grant Woods, esteemed deer biologist, has always been on the forefront of deer management and research.  Luckily for us, he is a friend of Trailcampro.  Luckily for you, he just started a website to impart his knowledge to everyday land managers like you!  I was, and I think you will be, extremely impressed with not only how clean the website is but also how informative and helpful the videos are.

Do yourself a favor and bookmark GrowingDeer.TV.  As you can see from his site, Grant relies on Reconyx trail cameras.

Bushnell Trophy Cam Programming

January 27th, 2010

Well, after a few days of work, I would like to unveil a new aspect of our website.  The Bushnell Trophy Cam (because of its popularity) is our guinea pig.  If everyone likes what they see and finds it useful, I’d like to incorporate this into all the camera trap models.  Instead of reading tedious, boring owners manuals (which we still have plenty of those if you prefer), here is our Bushnell Trophy Cam Setup Guide.

My hope for this, is that our Bushnell Trophy Cam Setup is easier for you (and me!) to read, informative and a complete walk-through of everything you need to know on how to setup your Trophy Cam.  If you have anything you would like to add, would like to see another camera done or if you’d just like to comment on this, please feel free to email me - nick@trailcampro.com.  As always, I hope this just takes us one step further to being your complete source for Trail Camera knowledge.

Tom Marchant sent in these bucks playing around.  His camera of choice is the Bushnell Trophy Cam.  If you have some camera trap pictures you’d like to share, email them to info@trailcampro.com.  Have a great week!

More Trail Cam Pictures

January 22nd, 2010

I sent a Bushnell Trophy Cam back home for my Mom to use.  She has never used a trail cam before and these are the first pictures that it took.  I’d say she did a pretty outstanding job!  As you can see from these pictures, they are taken in succession as a couple does walk through.  I love seeing game cameras that take pictures in a series like that, one HUGE reason why a trail camera’s recovery time is so important.

Here is her camera and the accessories that went with it.

Bushnell Trophy Cam - I picked it because of its affordability, ease of use and good detection circuitry

Bushnell Security Case - used to protect against the occasional trespasser.

Python Lock - used to lock the camera/case to a tree.  Also picked this because it is easy to move from location to location as opposed to lag bolting to a tree

Tenergy Rechargeable NiMh AA batteries - The winters in Southern Missouri can range anywhere from 0 to 40 degrees.  Normal alkalines would not last long in that temperature.  They also can sustain 1,000 charges!

Bushnell Trophy Cam Security Case

January 19th, 2010

So many of you have already discovered what a great value the Bushnell Trophy Cam is.  Well, if you need to protect your camera, here is the Bushnell Trophy Cam Security Case.  If you need a heavier box, get the Bushnell Trophy Cam Heavy Duty Security Case.  Charles put together this gif picture.  Please call and tell him what pretty hands he has! :)

So how do you lock the security case to the tree?  Master Lock Python Cable.
